Top scholars review YNU’s rice plantation research

A delegation of scholars visited an experimental rice plantation site run by Yunnan University (YNU) in Xishuangbanna, Yunnan province, on April 24.
The delegation members consisted of Zhong Kang, an academic of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), Qian Qian, deputy director of the China National Rice Research Institute, Xin Yeyun, a researcher from the China National Hybrid Rice Research and Development Center, and Wang Jing, director of the Institute for Genetic Development of CAS.
Hu Fenyi, dean of YNU’s School of Agricultural Studies, as well as other local representatives, were present as well.
Hu delivered a report on YNU’s current research and the difficulties the university faced. Zhong delivered a report in which he called for more research on genetic development in order to accelerate the application of perennial rice plantation technology.
