Yunnan University (YNU) recently donated more than 1,000 computers to underdeveloped areas as part of its poverty-relief program.
The university is currently upgrading to more high-end information technology and thus needs to replace around 1,000 old computers.
Considering it a huge waste to simply throw the computers out, the university decided to donate them to schools and authorities in remote areas, as they were all in decent condition.
The School of Information arranged for teachers and students to spend a month cleaning the computers, installing software on them, replacing keyboards and mice, and packaging them up.
