Liu Xiaowei, a Yunnan University (YNU) professor working at the university’s Southwestern Institute of Astronomy Research, was elected a member of the China Committee of the International Science Council (ISC-CHINA) at an election held in Beijing on March 21.

ISC-CHINA is an organization approved by the China Association for Science and Technology. It aims to encourage China’s academic community to take part in International Science Council activities, facilitate international cooperation between China and the council, and recommend qualified tech workers for positions with the international council.

The International Science Council was established in 2017 after the merging of the former International Council for Science and the former International Council for Social Sciences. It is the world’s largest comprehensive technical organization and has the widest array of disciplines.
