Yunnan University (YNU) donated 23,000 books, worth more than 1 million yuan ($149,189), to Yunlong county, Yunnan province, on April 2.

Yang Zeyu, vice-president of YNU, and Zuo Ruiji, deputy head of the Yunlong government, attended the donation ceremony.

During the ceremony, Zuo thanked YNU on behalf of the government for its contribution to improving education in Yunlong.

He pledged that the government would support the construction of libraries in the county’s middle and primary schools and encourage students to read and study harder.

Yang said that Yunlong county has historical links with YNU, as it was the hometown of YNU’s first president, Dong Ze.

He expressed hope that both sides would continue to strengthen cooperation and pursue common development.
