Yunnan University lists 10 major scientific achievements in 2018
3. A medical research breakthrough conducted by researchers at Yunnan University (YNU) in partnership with their counterparts at the Southwestern Medical Center of the University of Texas (UT) was published by eLife, a prestigious international medical journal, on March 27, 2018.
Titled “Codon usage biases co-evolve with transcription termination machinery to suppress premature cleavage and polyadenylation,” the paper was completed by YNU’s research team led by Dang Yunkun and by UT’s team under the leadership of Professor Yi Liu.
The paper reveals the reasons behind the codon usage bias.

4. Yunnan University (YNU) held an opening ceremony for a work station of Wang Chongyu, an academician at Chinese Academy of Sciences, and a research center of material genetic engineering on April 26.
The work station and research center are multi-subject innovation platforms for frontier studies on material genetic engineering, and it plays a significant role in building a world-class university with world-class disciplines.
At the ceremony, Wang was appointed as an honorary professor of YNU and a member of the consultative committee of precious metals material genetic engineering projects of Yunnan province. He also gave a lecture on innovation of materials and design of alloy.
