Two volunteer programs conducted by Yunnan University (YNU) were honored with silver medals at the fourth Competition for Chinese Youth Volunteer Programs, which was recently held in Deyang city, Sichuan province.

It is the first time that YNU has participated in the competition. The two programs are intended to support education in remote areas and help support migrant children.

The competition was jointly held by the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League (CYL), the Central Civilization Office, the Ministry of Civil Affairs, the Ministry of Water Resources, the National Health Administration, China Disabled Persons Federation, China Voluntary Service Association, the CPC Sichuan Provincial Committee and Sichuan Provincial Government.

Qi Batu, secretary of the secretariat at the CYL Central Committee, attended the ceremony and delivered a speech.

In recent years, YNU has placed a special emphasis on its voluntary programs, with its initiatives covering the environment, legal aid, AIDS, poverty, and the disabled.

Thanks to the support of YNU, many voluntary service organizations have been established on its campuses, with the aim of making voluntary work more accessible to students.
