A team from Yunnan University (YNU) was ranked eighth at the 16th National Moot Court Competition for College Students, which recently concluded at Tsinghua University. The YNU team was comprised of undergraduate students from the university’s law school.
During the group competition, the YNU team defeated a team from Peking University –– the winners of last year’s competition, and three other key opponents, making it to the final undefeated.
One member of the YNU team was honored with the “excellent debater” award.
The National Moot Court Competition for College Students, which was initiated in 2003, takes place at Tsinghua University annually. Each year will see over 40 different universities send their teams to compete at the contest, including some of China’s top law schools from Peking University, Tsinghua University, Renmin University of China and China University of Political Science and Law, making the competition one of the most influential moot court competitions in China.
Last month, during the first “Gold Penguin” Internet Moot Court Competition for College Students held by China University of Political Science and Law, in partnership with Tencent, the YNU team won the second award following a two-day contest involving more than 20 teams.
