The eighth Chinese Ecologist Club was held at Yunnan University (YNU), on Nov 30.
Sponsored by Nanjing Institute of Geography and Limnology at the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), the event was held by the School of Ecology and Environment at YNU.
More than 200 scholars and experts from Tsinghua University, Beijing Forestry University, Nanjing University, Nanjing Agricultural University, South China Agricultural University, East China Normal University, as well as other universities and research institutes affiliated with CAS, attended the event.

Professor Wan Shiqiang, founder of the Chinese Ecologist Club, briefed attendees on how the club evolved to be as it is today.
During the event, which lasted until Dec 3, various academics, including Professor Sun Jianxin, Professor Liu Manqiang, Huang Wei from Wuhan Botanical Garden at CAS, and Zhan Aibin from the research center for ecology and environment at Wuhan Botanical Garden, delivered academic reports.
In addition, 46 young scholars delivered academic reports on case analysis, and 72 scholars showcased their recent findings via posters, with their research mostly concerned with the areas of invasion ecology and chemical ecology.
After the forum, attendees were organized to visit Fuxian Lake Research Station for Deep Plateau Lakes and Fuxian Lake Ecology Demonstration Center.
At the closing ceremony, Professor Sun Jianxin and Dean Li Qingjun recognized 12 winners for their research findings.
The Chinese Ecologist Club was founded eight years ago by a group of scientists led by Professor Wan Shiqiang, with the aim of building a platform for young scholars focusing on ecology research.
The purpose of the forum is to accelerate the development of young scholars in ecology, promote the development of China’s ecology research, improve the influence of the country’s ecology research worldwide, and build a platform for young scholars to conduct academic exchanges with recognized researchers.
