YNU delegation signs agreements with Thai university

A delegation from the Institute for Cultural Development at Yunnan University (YNU) visited the School of Applied Art at Chulalongkorn University in Thailand to jointly conduct the second China-Thailand Workshop on Folk Art and Culture, on Nov 28.
The YNU delegation was led by Hu Hongbin, vice-dean of the university’s Institute for Cultural Development, with three lecturers and six graduate students.
The China-Thailand Workshop on Folk Art and Culture is another academic platform co-founded by YNU’s Institute for Development, following the Workshop on U40 Cultural Industry held by the institute in partnership with the cultural research institute at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Curtin University, Shanghai Theater Academy and Tencent, and the China-Spain Forum on Economy and Culture held by the institute and the University of Valencia.
The first China-Thailand Workshop on Folk Art and Culture was held at YNU, on April 4.
During the YNU delegation’s stay at Chulalongkorn University, both sides also signed a partnership deal. At the signing ceremony, Bussakorn Binson, dean of the School of Applied Art delivered a welcome speech in which she also expressed her hopes to further strengthen the partnership with YNU’s Institute for Cultural Development.
Following the welcome speech, Vice-Dean Hu outlined the history and current projects of YNU, as well as the present status of the Institute for Cultural Development to the Thai side.
Professor Bussakorn then played a video to introduce Chulalongkorn University as well as its School of Applied Art.
According to the agreement, both sides will develop exchanges and cooperation in the culture industry and explore other related industries. They will also jointly conduct research and exchange programs enabling teachers and students to visit and study at each other’s institutions.
After the signing ceremony, representatives from both sides exchanged gifts.
The School of Applied Art at Chulalongkorn University is the most respected art school in Thailand; it is renowned for its proficiency in the research of traditional culture and folk arts.
