YNU workshop discusses regional security, ASEAN

A workshop on security in Southeast Asia and China-ASEAN relations was held at Yunnan University, on Oct 27.
The workshop also served as a platform for attendees to discuss potential projects for the Southeast Asian Studies journal published by Jinan University.
The workshop was organized by YNU’s Center for China’s Neighbor Diplomacy and the Institute for Myanmar Studies, as well as Jinan University’s School of International Relations and Southeast Asia Studies.
More than 30 scholars gathered at the workshop, including Li Guoqiang, Party secretary of the Institute of Chinese Borderland Studies at Chinese Academy of Sciences; Chen Zhirui, editor-in-chief of Diplomatic Review, a journal released by the Institute of Diplomacy; Zhang Zhenjiang, dean of Jinan University’s School of International Relations; Deng Shichao, executive editor-in-chief of Southeast Asian Studies, as well as other scholars from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the National University of Defense Technology and other universities and institutes.
The workshop was divided into two sessions, with discussions revolving around the security situation in Southeast Asia, China-ASEAN relations and potential issues to cover in Southeast Asian Studies in 2019.
The workshop marks the start of cooperation between YNU and the Southeast Asian Studies journal.
