National, provincial honors awarded to YNU teachers

Several young teachers from Yunnan University (YNU) were recently honored at both national and provincial teaching competitions. 

Two teachers won the third prize at the national competition. During the provincial teaching contest, two teachers were honored with a special award; three received the first prize; four the second prize, and two received a prize recognizing excellence.

More than 150 young teachers registered for the fourth National Teaching Contest for Young Teachers, which was held in the city of Jinhua in East China’s Zhejiang province. 

According to the rules of the competition, each teacher was asked to pick one theme out of 20, and design a lesson based on it. 

Teachers were assessed based on their lesson planning, teaching and self-evaluations.

Both Yang Jindong, teacher at the School of Ethnology and Social Sciences of YNU, and Tang Min, teacher at the School of Environmental and Earth Sciences, shared the third prize. 

All contestants at the second University Teachers Teaching Contest held at Kunming University of Science and Technology had to pass three rounds of the competition before qualifying for the final, with the preliminary competition at his or her university, and the semi-final and final rounds held in other locations. 

At the final of the provincial competition, Wang Yang from YNU’s School of Agricultural Sciences, and Zhou Guanqi from the university’s School of Economics, were both honored with the special prize.

An additional nine teachers from YNU were also honored at the competition.
