A group of Yunnan University (YNU) students received an award for their excellent performance at the second “Shen Chuang Cup” International University Students Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition held at Shenzhen University, from Aug 5 to 12.

Five teams from YNU’s School of Chemical Sciences and Engineering and the School of Information and Software made it to the semi-final after competing against some 1,700 teams from other domestic and foreign universities. The teams went on to secure an award recognizing innovation and entrepreneurship.

The event received a great deal of support from YNU’s department in charge of student employment and the Office of Academic Affairs. Before the contestants left for the competition, YNU invited entrepreneurship mentors from outside the university to come and offer the competitors one-to-one guidance.

With the support of Shenzhen Municipal Government, Torch High Technology Industry Development Center of the Ministry of Science and Technology, the GNSS and LBS Association of China, and the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education Alliance of China, the “Shen Chuang Cup” International University Students Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition was hosted by Shenzhen University in partnership with 20 foreign and domestic universities, as well as various enterprises.

The competition benefited from technical advice from the National Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Finance and the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce.

This year’s competition attracted 1,700 teams from more than 400 universities and colleges.

Attendees of the competition are encouraged to start their own businesses in information technology, electronics, new energy, integrated circuits, finance, artificial intelligence and manufacturing.
