A delegation led by Guo Lei, deputy director of Yunnan Provincial Organization Department, visited Southwest Yunnan’s Fengqing county as part of Yunnan University (YNU)’s efforts to alleviate poverty, from July 14 to 18.

Other members of the delegation included Zhang Limin, associate professor at the School of Life Sciences of YNU and expert in Pu’er tea fermentation; Cheng Lizhong, deputy director of the experiment and teaching center at the School of Life Sciences of YNU, and other representatives from YNU’s poverty relief office.

The delegation focused their attention on the development of the local tea industry. They went to a local tea plantation where they looked round the plantation and offered their professional advice on how to improve its management.

They also visited an e-commerce platform in Hebian village, which was built by YNU as part of the university’s local poverty-relief program.

During their stay in Fengqing county, they also met with the staff members from YNU stationed in the village to help support local poverty alleviation efforts.
