An “India Corner” designed to facilitate a better understanding of the country was set up in the library at Yunnan University (YNU), on July 12.

Sailas Thangal, consul-general of India’s consulate in the southern Chinese city of Guangzhou; Zhang Li, vice-president of YNU; and representatives from the university’s library, institute of India studies and the School of Foreign Languages, attended the ceremony to unveil the name plaque for the India Corner.

The India Corner will include a wide array of books provided by the Indian consulate-general in Guangzhou, covering India’s culture, history, society, economy, religion and literature.

All books in the new section will be recorded in an online database to make it easy for teachers and students to search for particular titles.
