An eight-member delegation comprising of graduates from Yunnan University (YNU) will soon leave for Dulongjiang in Gongshan county and Lushi town in Fengqin county, Yunnan province, to help support local education for a year, as part of a poverty alleviation program.

On the afternoon of July 10, a ceremony was arranged to bid farewell to the eight team members. Li Jianyu, deputy Party secretary of YNU; Wang Jianhua, vice-president of YNU; all members of the university’s Youth League Committee, and the eight team members attended the ceremony.

During the meeting Li expressed his high expectations of the eight volunteers. He expressed his hopes that the team members would stay true to their hearts, improve their skills and work hard during the one-year voluntary teaching program.

Representatives of the team members vowed to make concerted efforts to support local education in the two areas.

This is the fifth time that a YNU delegation has traveled to an underdeveloped area to support local education. In 2018, the delegation received the award “Yunnan Youth May Fourth Medal” with four other teams in Yunnan province.
