Vietnam vice-premier visits Yunnan University

A 66-member delegation led by Vu Duc Dam, vice-premier of Vietnam, visited Yunnan University (YNU) on June 14.

Their visit to YNU was intended to take place during the 5th China-South Asia Expo and 25th Kunming Trade Fair which was held in Kunming, Yunnan province.

The delegation included Le Hoai Trung, vice-minister of the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Dang Minh Khoi, Vietnamese ambassador to China and other officials from the Vietnamese government.

In the company of Li Pei, deputy director of the Standing Committee of the Yunnan People’s Congress and Yang Lin, Party secretary of YNU, the delegation visited the YNU library and was briefed on the recent years of achievements made by YNU.

Vu Duc Dam also met with Vietnamese students at YNU and learned about their current condition at the university.

During his stay at the YNU Research Center of Life Sciences, he listened to a report from Zhang Jian, who was honored by the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, about his research project. 

At the laboratory for environmental board invention at the School of Chemical Sciences and Engineering, Vu listened to the introduction made by Associate Professor Wang Jiliang about the process of making environment-friendly board out of straws.

During their visit, Vu said that he was impressed by YNU’s history and development that took place in the past few years, and wished that YNU could make an even better university.
