Delegations from the School of Software, School of Law Studies, School of Foreign Languages and the School of Physics and Astronomy at Yunnan University (YNU) recently visited Hebian village in Fengqing county, Yunnan province, to further enhance YNU’s efforts to tackle poverty.
Liu Qing, vice-dean of the School of Software, led a four-member delegation to the village, from April 7 to 9. During the visit, the delegation visited families living on low incomes and investigated living conditions in the area.
From April 9 to 11, a delegation led by Gao Wei, dean at the School of Law Studies and Xu Zhiying, dean at the School of Foreign Languages, visited the village.
They called on a local resident named Wang Zhaomei, who had once been seriously injured in a gas explosion, and offered financial assistance to her.
Following their visits, the delegation led by Zhou Yongkun, Party secretary at the School of Physics and Astronomy, went to the village for a three-night stay.
His delegation donated 2,000 yuan ($313.77) to a local resident surnamed Li to help him expand his farming business.
YNU plans to continue its efforts to tackle poverty and will strive to develop real solutions to benefit China’s low-income families.
