A martial arts team from Yunnan University (YNU) won several medals at the first Yunnan provincial tai chi tournament which took place from May 9 to 11.

The event saw 125 competitors in 19 teams from universities and colleges across the province take part.  

YNU sent a seven-member delegation from the School of Physical Education, School of Economy and the School of Liberal Arts to compete at the competition. 

The delegation chalked up big victories with first prize for individual contests using weapons, second prize for the group contest, and third prize in the categories of tai chi boxing and tai chi sword techniques.
