Chinese and Chinese-Influenced Music in the 21st Century, an international research project of Yunnan University (YNU), recently won the University of South Florida Nexus Initiative Award.

The project is led by Professor John Robison at USF and Professor Yu Hui at YNU’s School of Art and Design. It went through strict reviews and eventually stood out among many competitors.

The USF Nexus Initiative Award was set up by the university to promote international cooperation. The fund will be used for international academic exchanges, visiting and holding lectures.

John Robison graduated from Stanford University with doctorates in musicology and composing. In recent years, he has carried out a series of scientific research projects with Yu Hui, helping promote the international communication of contemporary Chinese music works and the spread of early western music in China.
