The third international seminar on “the dialogue between Confucianist and Islamic civilizations” was held by Yunnan University (YNU) in partnership with Al-Mustafa International University from April 20 to 22.

More than 60 academics from both China and Iran attended the seminar, sharing their views on the topic “the relation between rationality and fairness in Confucianist and Islamic civilizations, and the building of the new order of international relations.”

The seminar saw 14 prestigious scholars from both countries deliver keynote speeches.

On April 22, a ceremony was held to mark the launch of the Chinese version of the book Shiah Islam by the Iranian writer Tabatabayi.

The version was translated by scholars from the two universities, and published by YNU Publishing House.

In June 2011, YNU signed an agreement with Al-Mustafa International University to alternate in holding this kind of international seminar every two years.

In 2015, the second seminar on Confucianism and Islamism was held in the city of Qom in Iran. Yang Ziyu, vice-president of YNU, led the delegation attending the seminar at which the two parties signed a new memorandum to deepen the cooperation.
