YNU professor honored by national talent program
Duan Changqun, a professor at the School of Ecology and Environment of Yunnan University (YNU) made it onto the list of the Ten Thousand Talent Program, according to a notice published by the Organization Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC).
He was the only candidate that made it onto the list from Yunnan province on this occasion.
Duan has long been dedicated to the research of ecological rehabilitation. As a leading director, he has managed over 40 national projects, which were favored and supported by a key national-level fund.
He has also published over 200 monographs and registered 12 patents, eight of which reached international level.
Under his leadership, the discipline of ecology at YNU was recognized as a national-level discipline with priority for development.
His dedication to scientific research played an important role in improving the influence of the discipline of ecology at YNU, and also in making YNU part of the Double First-rate Program, which aims to develop first-rate universities and first-rate disciplines that are of international standard.
Approved by the State Council, the Ten Thousand Talent Program was initiated by 11 government departments including the Organization Department and the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security.
By starting the program, the State authority intends to spend 10 years selecting and supporting around 10,000 high-level scholars in the fields of natural science, engineering technology, philosophy, and social sciences.
