A group of Yunnan University (YNU) students visited India International University (IIU), on Jan 10.

As a part of an exchange program between the two universities, the friendly visit came at the invitation of IIU, and had been similarly organized 10 times in the past.

YNU students received a warm welcome in India, and were invited to take part in various activities to learn about Indian culture.

IIU invited local well-known scholars to brief the YNU students on India’s current research on China as well as to introduce the two famous Indian epics Mahabharata and Ramayana.

The activity also drew the attention of local media organizations. India Educational Television Channel interviewed YNU students and reported the event on that day’s broadcast.

Zhang Yongjun, the teacher leading the group, said during an interview with a local newspaper agency, “this activity offers an opportunity for YNU students to learn about the profound culture of IIU, a university set up by the great Indian poet Tagore”.

He also said that the exchange program lays a solid foundation for continued cooperation between the two universities.

As of now, YNU has carried out many exchange programs with universities in many other countries and regions as well, such as Bangladesh, Singapore, India and Taiwan, in the hopes of improving international and interregional cooperation.

In return, IIU will send a group of students and teachers to YNU for a similar visit in May.
