Taiyuan and Yunnan universities discuss partnership

A delegation from Taiyuan University of Technology (TYUT) visited Yunnan University (YNU) to discuss the future direction of their partnership, on Jan 18.
The meeting was attended by Shen Xingquan, deputy Party secretary of TYUT; Lyu Yongkang, vice-president of TYUT; Li Jianyu, deputy Party secretary of YNU; Zhao Qihua, assistant to the president of YNU, and other representatives from both universities.
Li welcomed the delegates and informed them of the current situation at YNU, highlighting the university’s inclusion in the “Double First-rate” Program in 2017 –– a national project to develop world-class universities and disciplines.
He went on to express his hopes that the partnership between the two universities could be deepened and developed further, providing mutual benefits.
Shen responded by thanking YNU for its hospitality and congratulated the university on its inclusion in the “Double First-rate” Program. He also expressed his hopes that the partnership would enable TYUT to develop its scientific research and boost academic exchanges.
Following the opening speeches, the two sides debated how to develop world-class universities in the 21st century.
