YNU holds first forum on intangible cultural heritage

Yunnan University (YNU) held its first forum on the preservation of intangible cultural heritage on Dec 23, 2017.

Nearly 80 representatives, along with 300 YNU faculty members and students attended the forum.

Experts at the forum included Li Song, director of the Center for Folk Art Development at the Ministry of Culture; Zhang Changshan, deputy Party secretary of YNU; Yang Decong, deputy director-general of the Yunnan Provincial Department of Culture, and Liu Shaoqin, dean of the School of Cultural Communications at Shandong Youth University of Political Science.

Zhang delivered a welcome speech at the beginning of the forum. In his speech, he stressed the need to build cultural confidence and preserve intangible cultural heritage.

He also pointed out the challenges arising from the protection of intangible cultural heritage, and vowed to use all of YNU’s resources in the fight to preserve it.

After Zhang’s speech, Yang Decong and Li Song also shared their views at the forum.

Finally, four experts were invited to deliver keynote speeches on protecting heritage.
