National experts flock to Yunnan University to discuss tourism promotion

The Yunnan Commercial Business Forum opens at Yunnan University on Nov 26.

More than 200 elite representatives of enterprises, education institutes and media outlets in China, as well as students at Yunnan University, put forward their ideas on the development of the Yunnan tourism industry on Nov 26 as the Yunnan Commercial Business Forum got underway at the university. 

The forum, with a focus on the tourism industry, was part of the 1st Tsinghua Belt and Road Forum for Cooperation & the 9th Tus International Forum in Kunming.

It was also one of the activities marking the 16th anniversary of the MBA program and the 8th anniversary of the executive MBA program at Yunnan University.

Senior officials from the university, the Yunnan University Tus Business School, and Tus-Holdings  attended the forum, including Zhou Xuebin, vice-president of Yunnan University and Li Zhiqiang, vice-chairman of Tus-Holdings and dean of the business school.

During the forum, Professor Paul Yip of Hong Kong University discussed the promotion of Yunnan tourism from five perspectives, including the movement and development of population in the countries and regions along the Belt and Road and the basic economic situations of Yunnan and its neighboring five countries.

Tian Weimin, executive dean of the business school, pointed out that the advancement of "idyllic complex" which features circular agriculture, creative agriculture and agricultural experience is a new path to increase the value of rural land, agricultural products and farmers' income.

Qiao Wenjun, assistant dean at the Tsinghua University Belt and Road Initiative Institute, said that ticketing is key to increasing tourist attraction profits. He illustrated his view by outlining various business modes at Huangguoshu Waterfall of China and scenic spots in Thailand and Switzerland.
