On the morning of Nov 22, a grand opening ceremony was held for the 2nd International Cultural Festival of Yunnan University on the Donglu campus. Hosted by the International School, this culture festival has a theme of "New Age·New Silk Road— Gather Chinese Spirits and Build Global Dreams".

All teachers and students from the International School, including students from 38 countries and regions, attended the opening ceremony.

Representative officials from the Consulate Generals of Bangladesh, Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Malaysia and Vietnam in Kunming, together with leader, teacher and student representatives of Yunnan University were present at the opening.

Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee Li Jianyu addresses the opening ceremony on behalf of Yunnan University.

Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Yunnan University Li Jianyu said that by showing rich and colorful international cultures the International Cultural Festival of Yunnan University will create opportunities for exchanges and enhance mutual understanding and communication among the students. He hoped that the youths attending the activity will deepen their friendships and contribute to building a beautiful campus and a harmonious world.

The 2nd International Cultural Festival will last for three days, from Nov 22 till 24. It will include the opening ceremony, a culture corridor exhibition, art performances and a closing ceremony. Cultural exhibition halls and martial art exhibition halls from 20 countries will be part of the event. The festival aims to build up a platform for Chinese and foreign students to showcase their countries' cultures, enrich their extracurricular lives and help them gain wider knowledge and deeper understanding of each other's cultures.

The international cultural festival fully embodied not only the theme of the activity, but also the spirit of Yunnan University "wisdom from many, justice for all".
