Human Resources and Social Security minister visits Yunnan University

Human Resources and Social Security minister Yin Weimin(Right 3) inspects Yunnan University's innovation base on Nov 15, 2017.

Yin Weimin, minister at the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, paid a visit to Yunnan University, inspecting the university's innovation base and speaking on the topic of youth entrepreneurship on Nov 15, 2017. 

Yin visited Yunnan University's innovation center for talks on the center's construction idea, operation mechanism and its current status, paying special attention to incubation development of the projects being conducted there.

He also spoke to the directors and team leaders of some projects, gaining knowledge on their progress and encouraging them to fully utilize the innovation center platform, enriching their ideas, and extending their market promotion for eventually turning their innovative ideas into businesses.

During their meeting, Yin said he was deeply impressed by Yunnan University, especially its beautiful scenery and the progresses it has made throughout its history.

He said that after his visit to Yunnan University and its innovation center and upon hearing the presidents' reports, he gained deeper understanding on the innovation efforts of universities and colleges in the province.

"Yunnan pays great attention to students' employment and innovation, and by adopting a serious of practical measures and exploring new methods, the province's 2017 graduates' overall employment condition was quite good and 2018 is currently witnessing a good trend", he continued, "Students are showing positive attitude towards seeking for jobs and starting start-ups".

He urged the related departments and universities to continue perfecting the mechanism and policies for supporting and helping students to find jobs or start their own businesses while encouraging students to broaden their profession concept.

Lin Wenxun, president of Yunnan University, made a report on the university's work in these years in regards to talent cultivation, scientific research and social service, as well as its "world top" university construction.

He then spoke on students' employment condition of Yunnan University, saying that the university has always prioritized students' employment and innovation and has tried hard to create a good environment for students' job seeking and start-ups, and also promises that Yunnan University will continue its efforts.

Yunnan Human Resources and Social Security Department Director-General Yang Yujian presides over the meeting.

Student representatives from Yunnan University and other universities also shared their opinions and experiences in regards to employment and start-ups.

Officials from Yunnan provincial government, the provincial Human Resources and Social Security Department, Kunming municipal government, and Yunnan University heads, as well as representatives from other universities in Yunnan attended the meeting.
