Purpose

To promote the development of education, the Hong Kong Siyuan Foundation, founded by Tseng Tao Chen and his wife , has set up the Hong Kong Si Yuan Scholarships of Yunnan University to support impoverished students through their undergraduate education.

Selection Scope

The candidates should be full-time outstanding undergraduates at Yunnan University from a disadvantaged family in the western or central and eastern provinces.

Eligibility

1. Students who have firm and correct political orientation, guided by Marxism Leninism, Mao Zedong thought and Deng Xiaoping theory, carry out the important thought of Three Represents in an all-round way, adhere to the Party's basic line and program and have a correct world outlook on life and values.

2. Students who observe the laws and abide by the rules and regulations of Yunnan University.

3. Students who live frugally with good morality and without bad habits.

4. Students who love and are devoted to their specialties and have excellent academic records, with comprehensive evaluation scores over 80, an average score of each course above 70, and freshmen’s college entrance exam scores ranking in the top 20 of their grade and major.

5. Students who are concerned with society and actively participate in public welfare and voluntary activities in and out of Yunnan University.

6. The applicants must meet the poverty standard stipulated by the Education Department of Yunnan province.

7. Students who have one of the following conditions are not eligible:

（1）Students who are subject to criticism or punishments for violating the rules and regulations of Yunnan University;

（2）Students who have failed a required or elective course;

（3）Students who have applied for a deferment of graduation.
