Purpose

A project to support western education by Tsinghua University and Google has been launched in the five provinces of Qinghai, Yunnan, Guizhou, Ningxia, and Xinjiang. The project provides funding and resources to western colleges to support development of their teaching staff, courses and talent cultivation. Encouragement grants for teachers and students have been set up, and new courses in advanced IT technologies have been established to cultivate more IT professionals for western China.

Selection Scope

Outstanding IT major students whose families are impoverished

Eligibility

1. Must be patriotic and support the leadership of the CPC;

2. Must observe the CPC Constitution, national laws, and regulations in college;

3. Must be hardworking in study and achieve good academic results;

4. Must be IT major students;

5. Must show financial difficult in their family.

Scholarship Amount

2,000 yuan ($301.8) for each student

Five students each year

Procedure

1. A student applies for the grant on his own by completing an application form and submitting required materials;

2. The head of the student's class (or a tutor) writes a recommendation letter;

3. Applications are graded;

4. Student education and leadership groups of a school will review the selection results and publicize them.
