Purpose

In order to bring more education opportunities to poor student in Yunnan University and boost their employment in the future, the US China Education Trust established the Maurice "Hank" Greenberg/C.V. Starr Scholarship (GSS) in the university in 2007. Students are encouraged to study hard and play an important role in China's evolution and construction..

Selection Scope

All full-time freshmen of liberal arts are welcomed to apply.

Eligibility

1. Must love the motherland and the people.

2. Must abide by the Constitution and laws; abide by the rules of the university.

3. Must be honest and trustworthy, and of good moral character.

4. Must study hard, be positive, love the collective, respect teachers and unite schoolmates.

5. Must be from a family struggling financially, an urban family with per capita monthly income less than 180 yuan ($27.17), or a rural family with less than 120 yuan.

6. Good academic performance in high school.

Application Time

In principle, assessment work should be finished within one month after term begins.

Award Amount

1,250 dollars each

Scholarships will be allocated in two years, 625 dollars per year.
