In September, Li Zehua, Yang Hui, Zhao Xian and Li Hongxiang, four researchers and a doctoral student from the center travelled to Nigeria to conduct exchanges and field research.

Through interviewing more than 20 government institutes, research institutes and units in Nigeria, the team had in-depth discussions with the officials regarding Nigeria's economic development, the diversified development path of Nigeria, the investment environment in Nigeria, the development of Chinese-funded enterprises in Nigeria, the Sino-Nigerian relations, and China-Africa relations.

They also investigated the Institute of Mineral and Geological Sciences directly under the Ministry of Mines and Steel and the Chinese-funded enterprises in Nigeria.

During the investigation, the team discussed issues such as the economic hardship in Nigeria, the development of Chinese-funded enterprises in Nigeria and the relations between China and Nigeria, as well as the political problems of Nigeria's development with general managers of several enterprises and Chinese private entrepreneurs.

The center, along with the Research Center for China-South Africa People-in-People Exchanges, enhances the long-term cooperation with academic institutions, universities, international organizations and Chinese-funded enterprises both at home and abroad via strengthening academic exchanges and field research, while laying a solid foundation for the centers' academic researches, social investigations, humanities and cultural exchanges and consulting services.
