Spatial economist Masahisa Fujita lectures at YNU

As one of the earlier Chinese universities to open the spatial economics course for graduate students and PhDs, Yunnan University has a group of teachers and research staff in spatial economics. To accelerate the development of economics discipline and its globalization process, Yunnan University intends to strengthen its cooperation with world renowned economists, while retaining Masahisa Fujita and Zhao Wei as honorary professors. 

Professor Masahisa also had academic exchanges with the university's experts and scholars in economics such as Professor Yang Xianming and Professor Lyu Zhaohe, covering topics such as Belt and Road construction, international economic cooperation, and the economic growth effect of cultural diversity. 

He provided young teachers and research staff with guidance in solving problems regarding the research of spatial economy, international economy and regional economy and also pointed out their development directions.

Moreover, Masahisa donated the signed copies of his books – The Spatial Economy: Cities, Regions, and International Trade; Economics of Agglomeration: Cities, Industrial Location, and Regional Growth – to the Economics School.
