Leaders meet with the foreign students of the Champion camp at a grand hall in Kunming.

On October 28, Li Xiaosan, member of the Standing Committee and the minister responsible for the Organization Department of the Yunnan Provincial Committee, met with members of the "Chinese Bridge" Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign Secondary School Students.

Other leaders attending the meeting included Zhao Guocheng, deputy director-general of the Confucius Institute headquarters and deputy director of the National Office for Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language (NOCFL), and Yang Lin, the Party secretary of Yunnan University.

Li Xiaosan has a cordial conversation with Georgies Srour, the champion of the 2nd "Chinese Bridge" competition.

Li first extended a warm welcome to the members of the Champion camp. He said that with the growing international influence of China, a great upsurge in learning Chinese is gaining ground around the world and the "Chinese Bridge" Chinese Proficiency Competition has built a bridge between foreigners and Chinese language and culture.

"I hope you can keep learning Chinese and have a better understanding of China's history, culture and current situation so as to become friendly messengers of exchanges between China and foreign countries, introducing China and spreading Chinese culture to the world objectively and justly," Li said.

The champion of the 2nd "Chinese Bridge" Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign Secondary School Students, Georgies Srour, spoke on behalf of all members of the camp, saying "The 'Chinese Bridge' competition has made a big difference to each contestant. We will learn more about China and Chinese language, tell Chinese stories to the world and enhance the friendly relationship between China and other countries".
