Two research centers inaugurated at Yunnan University

An inauguration ceremony for the Yunnan Public Policy Research Center and the Yunnan Law-based Government Research Center was held at Yunnan University on Oct 24. 

The Yunnan Public Policy Research Center was built by the Yunnan government's Development Research Center and Yunnan University, while the law-based research center was established by the Yunnan government's Office of Legislative Affairs and the university.

Unveiling of the nameplate of the Yunnan Law-based Government Research Center in Yunnan University on Oct 24, and a similar ceremony for Yunnan's new public policy research center the same day, symbolize a step forward for both the university's research development and the province's economy.

Yang Jie, deputy secretary general and director of the general office of the Yunnan provincial government; Li Jian and Zhao Zekuan, deputy directors of the government's Yunnan Development Research Center; Zhang Xianwei, secretary of the party leadership group and director of the province's Office of Legislative Affairs; Ma Zhonghua, the office's deputy director; Lin Wenxun, president of Yunnan University; Yang Zeyu, the university's vice president and other officials attended the ceremony.

The research centers, as a new type of think tank featuring government-university cooperation, will provide policy advice for Yunnan's building of a well-off society and leapfrog-type development.

Yang Jie said in a speech that government-university cooperation is important for Yunnan's high-end new think tank construction. He urged the centers to conduct forward-looking, theoretical and practical studies with a scientific, coordinated and efficient approach to assist both the university's research development and the province's economy. 

Lin noted that as two significant humanistic and social science research bases the centers will enable the university to promote the nation's legal construction, governance capacity and modernization, and promised that Yunnan University will spare no effort in facilitating the centers' construction.
