Yunnan University to establish Alliance Française de Kunming with the French Consulate-General in Chengdu
A meeting between a delegation from the French Consulate-General in Chengdu and Yunnan University representatives is held in the university campus, on Oct 23.
A delegation from the French Consulate-General in Chengdu visited Yunnan University on October 23 to sign a cooperation agreement on establishing Alliance Française de Kunming.
Yunnan University President Lin Wenxun addresses the meeting.
In the meeting, Yunnan University President Lin Wenxun first extended his warm welcome to the delegation and then briefed them on the university’s international cooperative achievements in recent years. He said that he hopes to seize this opportunity to connect with more French universities, especially in areas like student exchange and scientific research, to contribute to Sino-French economic and cultural exchanges.

Mme. Fabyène Mansencal, Consul-General of France in Chengdu, talked about Alliance Française’s expansion across China and said that with the alliance as a good start she hopes to explore more cooperative possibilities with Yunnan University in the future.

Later, Lin and Thierry Lassere, chief representative of Alliance Française in China and Mongolia, signed a cooperative agreement, confirming they will jointly establish Alliance Française de Kunming.
Created in Paris in 1883, Alliance Française is an international organization that aims to promote French language and culture around the world. All French presidents automatically become the alliance’s honorary president. It enjoys high prestige with quality French teaching and currently has 1040 centers in 136 countries and regions, and more than 40,000 students.
