Xiamen Port has achieved a breakthrough in the international logistics of new energy by innovating and improving the business environment. While ensuring safety compliance, it has reduced the export process for oversized and dangerous energy storage containers from seven days to three.
This efficiency gain is attributed to the industry guidance provided by the world's first guideline for the safe maritime transport of containerized lithium battery energy storage systems.
Before the guideline was issued, energy storage containers were classified as Class 9 dangerous goods for international shipping and lacked unified maritime safety standards due to their oversized and overweight nature.
The guideline provides professional and comprehensive instructions for key stages such as storage within terminals, ship berthing, and the loading/unloading operations of energy storage containers. By addressing this critical issue, customs clearance time has been shortened, and the export process has been significantly accelerated.
