In the first four months of this year, the container sea-rail intermodal volume of Xiamen Port exceeded 40,000 TEUs, a year-on-year increase of 16.5 percent, a record-high for the period.
This year, Xiamen Port Authority has continued to strengthen strategic cooperation with railway departments. It has started to operate regular freight trains between Xiamen and Jiangxi, Hubei, and other regions, creating multiple convenient, safe, and fast import and export channels for China's central and western regions. This initiative has led to a large amount of cargo passing through Xiamen Port.
Meanwhile, Xiamen Port is strengthening the integration of Fujian's supply chain resources, achieving breakthrough progress in the consolidation of bulk commodities such as grain, fertilizers, and mineral products.
Xiamen Port Authority is actively helping container shipping companies to provide inland container return services for cargo owners. Currently, out of the top 20 container shipping companies, 14 have established inland container return points.
In order to expand markets, Xiamen Port will continue to solidify its position as the southeast international shipping center, establish a dense network of foreign trade routes, strengthen the layout of the supply chain and industrial chain, promote seamless connectivity between sea-rail intermodal transportation and the China-Europe Railway Express network, and seek to seamlessly integrate the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road and the Silk Road Economic Belt.
