The world's largest LNG dual-fuel roll-on/roll-off ship, SAIC ANJI SINCERITY, the first to be funded and built by a Chinese ship-owner, made its debut at the Modern Terminal of Dongdu Port Area in Xiamen on Jan 22.

More than 3,700 cars were loaded onto the ship, which departed from Xiamen for European countries such as the Netherlands, Italy, Turkiye, Germany and Belgium. It is by far the largest single shipment of automobiles from Xiamen Port.

To ensure the maiden voyage goes smoothly, Dongdu Customs offered to oversee the planning of storage areas in advance, expanding the storage capacity to 6,000 vehicles, an increase of nearly 40 percent.

In recent years, Xiamen Port has become an important shipping hub for the export of new energy products, thanks to its favorable business environment. In 2023, the port exported 85,000 new energy vehicles, a tenfold increase year-on-year.

Since the beginning of this year, Xiamen Port has exported a large number of new energy vehicles. The MORNING MIDAS, another roll-on/roll-off ship, departed from Xiamen Port on Jan 22, carrying 1,828 new energy vehicles. So far, more than 4,400 new energy vehicles have been exported from the port.
