The Cross-Strait Tea Culture Festival and Enjoying Free Trade New Year Consumer Festival are being held at the Taiwan Duty-free Shopping Park in Dadeng town from Jan 19 to 25.
This year marks the 25th anniversary of the opening of the Xiamen Dadeng-Taiwan Small Goods Free Trade Market. Over the past 25 years, Xiang'an Customs and various regulatory agencies have served the Dadeng market, contributing to its continuous development.
With the geographical proximity, affable relations, and cultural affinity between Xiamen and Taiwan, it is hoped that this event will drive the high-quality development of the tea industry and increase cross-Strait cultural tourism and economic and trade cooperation.
The 2023 Cross-Strait Tea King Competition and the 15th Minnan-Taiwan Souvenir Finals were held at the Dadeng market. The Cross-Strait Tea King Competition is the only cross-Strait tea competition guided by the Exchange Bureau of the Taiwan Affairs Office.
This year's event was held at the Dadeng market's tea tasting and exchange base, aiming to leverage the unique role of the Dadeng market in cross-strait economic, trade, and cultural exchanges.
The Dadeng market also hosts the "tea table culture" tour, where cross-strait personalities gather around a table to appreciate fragrances, savor tea, enjoy snacks, and experience "tea table culture".
The Minnan-Taiwan New Year Market held on Jan 21 featured handmade specialties, Taiwan cuisine, and trendy cultural and creative products.
In addition, the management committee of the Xiamen Free Trade Zone specially allocated 500,000 yuan ($69,883) in consumption vouchers. On Jan 19, these vouchers began being distributed to all shoppers at the Dadeng market through the "UnionPay" platform for seven consecutive days.
