The Fujian province cross-Strait maritime dispute resolution center was officially established in the Maritime Silk Road Central Legal District in Xiamen on Nov 9.

The first maritime dispute resolution center in China to deal with Taiwan-related questions, the Fujian province cross-Strait maritime dispute resolution center was established by the Xiamen Maritime Safety Administration, the Xiamen Maritime Court, the Silk Road Maritime Alliance, as well as 11 units and industry associations. Its office is located in the Public Legal Service Center of Maritime Silk Road Central Legal District in Xiamen.

The center will focus on disputes relating to the rights and interests of crew members, water traffic accidents, salvage of sunken vessels or obstructions, fulfillment of various maritime contracts, compensation for personal injuries in maritime passenger transport, port construction and operations, and new business forms involving Taiwan.

The center will also provide legal services for Taiwan compatriots and businesses, including maritime legal consultation, public interest legal lectures, dispute resolution, and other services.

The center will also explore innovative legal services related to maritime affairs in Taiwan, promote the establishment of a diversified dispute resolution mechanism for maritime affairs involving Taiwan, and enrich practical experiences in public legal services concerning Taiwan.
