Xiamen Port added a new Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) shipping route that is connected to major ports in China, the Republic of Korea and Indonesia. The vessel TS MUNDRA was the first to ply this new route and had berthed at Haitian Terminal on Nov 5.
The new route is jointly operated by four container liner companies: Ocean Network Express, SITC International Holdings, T.S. Lines, and NAMSUNG SHIPPING, with four vessels.
On this route, vessels will call at Qingdao Port, Shanghai Port, Ningbo Port and Shekou Port in Shenzhen, Guangdong province in China, Jakarta Port and Surabaya Port in Indonesia before sailing from Xiamen Port to Busan Port in ROK.
More than 700 standard containers were loaded onto and unloaded from TS MUNDRA at Xiamen Port. The vessel transported goods like stone, tiles, clothing, hats, flowers to Busan Port on Nov 6.
The opening of the new route will further expand Xiamen Port's foreign trade network, helping it become a hub for both domestic and international shipping, and promote the construction of the BRI.
