The first Xiamen-Jinmen Red Brick Culture Festival took place during the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holiday from Sept 29 to Oct 6 in Xiang'an district, Xiamen and stimulated market consumption worth more than 1.59 million yuan ($218,000).
More than 10 themed activities, including intangible cultural heritage folk performances, a dance gala held in traditional buildings, and a Xiamen-Jinmen night market, were held during the festival in Dadeng sub-district.
Statistics show that the cumulative passenger flow at the Dadeng Taiwan small commodity trading market exceeded 50,000, an increase of 341.94 percent compared to the same period in 2022, during the eight-day holiday.
As of Oct 6, the festival distributed 800,000 yuan in consumer vouchers to 83 market merchants.
At the festival site, the Tongyi youth innovation base and the Taiwan youth cultural and creative studio signed contracts with Dadeng sub-district to set up operations in Tianqi community. This move is expected to attract more young Taiwan entrepreneurs to participate in the creation of new industries and experiences in Dadeng.
