The first returning China-Europe (Xiamen) freight train of the year arrived in Xiamen city, Fujian province, with 62 cargo containers from Russia on May 25.

This signifies the resumption of round-trip freight trains between Xiamen and Russia.

The train transported approximately 1,625 metric tons of Russian writing paper, with a value of nearly 7 million yuan ($ 988,700).

The operation of this freight train route will effectively meet the logistics needs of foreign-funded enterprises in the Fujian region, enhance the comprehensive transportation efficiency of the international freight train system, and contribute to the improvement of Xiamen's port logistics network.

This route will also promote trade in the Xiamen Area of China (Fujian) Pilot Free Trade Zone and expand trade cooperation between China and Russia.

Since August 2015, the China-Europe (Xiamen) freight trains have been shuttling along the rail lines across Eurasia, delivering Chinese products to countries along the route.

Currently, these freight trains operate steadily on three international freight routes to Europe, Central Asia, and Russia. They reach over 30 cities in 12 countries, including Poznan in Poland, Budapest in Hungary, Hamburg and Duisburg in Germany, Moscow in Russia, and Almaty in Central Asia.
