The Xiamen Area of China (Fujian) Pilot Free Trade Zone – located in Xiamen city, in East China's Fujian province – launched an export origin certification service system on April 18.

The initiative offers a convenient one-stop service for businesses located in the zone to obtain export origin certificates.

The system has become the first in the country to realize Express Mail Service self-service delivery of origin certificates.

The system was created by Xiamen Customs, the management committee of the Xiamen FTZ and the China Post Express & Logistics Xiamen branch.

Resident company Xiamen Waitu Import and Export Co Ltd recently successfully placed an order for the first China-ASEAN Free Trade Agreement preferential origin certificate. It did so through the new system's certificate delivery module on the Xiamen digital port platform.

The company’s customs affairs officer lauded the system's certificate delivery function, adding that it was "really convenient".

Prior to the launch of the system, origin certificates for China-ASEAN trade to countries such as Malaysia had to be manually issued by customs and officers had to travel to the Xiamen shipping center to collect them.

However, with the new system companies can now apply for and have their certificates delivered right to their doorstep, with the added bonus of real-time tracking and statistics on the system.

In addition to the newly created certificate delivery function, the Xiamen digital port platform also has 12 other functional modules that can help solve business-related issues with origin enterprises – such as record-keeping and information updates for origin enterprises and certificate applications.
