The software and information industry leads development. Weifang Software Park and Shandong Geographic Information Industry Base, both located in the industrial zone, have set up a Weifang branch of the Shandong Academy of Information & Communication Technology (SAICT) and a national sci-tech incubator. A total of 225 companies, including Cvic Se, Pactera, Zhongdong Media and Newocean Software Co, have settled in the zone. The zone has won a string of honors and designations, such as Software Industry Base under the National Torch Program, National New Media & Advertising Industry Park, and national demo base for e-commerce, geographic information and copyrights.
