Shushan village in Tong'an town, Suzhou New District, is a major village of rural tourism in China.
Since this year, in order to improve and enhance the beauty of Shushan village, the Shushan Scenic Area Management Committee has formulated and implemented a Five Major Enhancement Actions task list involving transportation, pastoral scenery, living environment, business development, and rural civilization, aiming to make the village more beautiful and livable.
At the beginning of the Lunar New Year, the Shushan Scenic Area Management Committee has made significant efforts to improve local environment by conducting a comprehensive survey, implementing precise measures, and providing guidance. They have formed an environmental improvement team composed of people from multiple departments, working together to carry out the rural living environment improvement work. Over 1,000 people have been mobilized to clean more than 220 disorderly dumping sites and over 30 metric tons of waste. As a result, the appearance of the main roads in the village has been significantly improved.
Following closely behind is the action to enhance management capabilities. To address the issue of parking difficulties during weekends and holidays, the Shushan Scenic Area Management Committee, in collaboration with local traffic police and comprehensive law enforcement departments, has deployed over 100 personnel for traffic guidance. They have formed patrol teams to identify traffic jam points and promptly guide the traffic. Additionally, they are exploring the establishment of effective platforms and collaborating with local chamber of commerce members and talent enterprises to attract customers to Shushan businesses. They are also strengthening digital management by developing the "Smart Shushan" 3.0 platform, which enables intelligent, precise, and timely management of issues such as improper parking, littering, and floating debris in the river.
Shushan village has repaired and upgraded infrastructure in various aspects. It has repaired and consolidated the exteriors of local houses and some roads. It has also carried out "micro-improvements and refined enhancements" on wooden walkways, public toilets, parking lots, and transportation hubs. Furthermore, It has updated the village's green spaces and made efforts to promote an upgrade in the overall green environment.
It has provided more reception services, standardized the reception process, and designed diversified reception routes. In addition to providing public bicycle rental services, It has deployed circulating public transportation to alleviate traffic pressure during peak periods.
The action to enhance cultural and tourism development is carried out simultaneously. Shushan village has conducted a comprehensive review of all available resources in the village, revitalizing cultural and tourism assets and strengthening investment in cultural and tourism projects. At the same time, it is actively building the Shushan Pear Blossom cultural and tourism brand and creating the Mengjiang Welcoming Tour tourism route in Shushan. It has implemented a registration system for village homestays, strengthened safety inspections for relevant businesses in the village, and enhanced daily security patrols for popular "wild" attractions in the surrounding areas.
Strengthening river management through the River Chief System is a priority for Shushan village. It plan to repair and upgrade multiple deficiencies in the village's pipe network, carry out targeted environmental remediation in Goxiang Beach, and dredge several rivers and over 40 ponds. The village also plans to renovate the water supply pipes for all households.
Furthermore, Shushan will implement a specialized action plan for the environmental improvement of farmland. This includes clearing rural waste, demolishing illegal structures, and regulating farm tool rooms and agricultural containers.
In addition, efforts will be made to enhance forest fire prevention. Fire drills will be conducted, and comprehensive law enforcement officers, forest fire brigades, forest rangers, and security personnel will be arranged. Forest fire prevention work will be strengthened during the Qingming Festival period.
Shushan village will also continue to strengthen agricultural industry management by focusing on the development of agricultural and sideline products, particularly the Three Treasures of Shushan. The village will emphasize brand planning, promotional marketing, quality control, and supervision of agricultural products.
These actions collectively aim to enhance river management, improve environment, ensure safety, and promote sustainable agriculture and rural development in Shushan village.
