Suzhou New District has been home to more than 400 Taiwan-funded enterprises, with a total investment of $7 billion.
In 1993, the district received its first investment from Taiwan from Chung-Hwa Chemical and Pharmaceutical Industrial Co. Ithas since attracted a large number of Taiwan investments, including those by ASUS, Qisda Corp, Yageo Corp, Raken Technology Ltd, and Gold Circuit Electronics Ltd.
In 2020, a total of 116.3 billion yuan ($17.77 billion) in output was generated by local Taiwan-invested companies that had annual operating revenues of roughly $3.1 million or more.
In January and February this year, the district gained momentum from local Taiwan investments and marked year-on-year growth of 64 percent and 118 percent in terms of the total volume of foreign trade and foreign capital in actual use respectively.
