In 1909 (the late Qing Dynasty), Li Zhun, the Navy Admiral of Guangdong led the three warships of Fubo, Chenhang and Guangjin on an inspection tour of Dongsha Qundao, Xisha Qundao. Inspecting the islands one by one, he erected flags and stone steles as a token of Chinese sovereignty over them. Li Zhun recorded in detail the entire process of the inspection by his fleet in his diary, which was published in Ta Kung Pao under the title of "Records of Maritime Patrolling by Li Zhun" on August 10, 1933.
