Students in Shanxi University recently hit the jackpot, winning the two first prizes and six second prizes in the 2021 National Contemporary Undergraduate Mathematical Contest in Modeling. 

The contest is reputedly the world's largest mathematical event in terms of modeling. 

It aims to motivate undergraduates to learn mathematics, improve their comprehensive ability to apply mathematics knowledge and computer technology to solve practical problems, and cultivate their practical innovation ability and teamwork spirit.

This year's event attracted the participation of 140,000 undergraduates from 1,566 universities and colleges in countries including China, the United States and Malaysia.

A total of 234 students from 17 colleges of Shanxi University participated in the contest, of whom 207 students were shortlisted for the national finals.
