China's Minister of Justice He Rong attended and addressed the Meeting of BRICS Ministers of Justice via video link on Sept 18.
He Rong presented at the meeting the guiding principles of the third plenary session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the progress China's Ministry of Justice (MOJ) has made in thoroughly implementing Xi Jinping Thought on the Rule of Law and supporting Chinese modernization based on its functions.
She noted that China's MOJ is willing to work with ministries of justice of other BRICS member states to implement the outcomes and consensus reached at BRICS summits, and strengthen pragmatic exchanges and cooperation in the rule of law so as to promote high-quality BRICS cooperation. To this end, China's MOJ put forward three suggestions, the minister said.
First, justice departments of all BRICS members should look to the future, uphold and promote the BRICS spirit, fully leverage the platform of the Meeting of BRICS Ministers of Justice, and further enhance mutual trust, build consensus and pool strength, He Rong said.
Second, they should adhere to openness and inclusiveness, continuously expand the scope of BRICS Plus cooperation in the rule of law, and organize multi-level, multi-channel and all-round exchange activities, she added.
Third, they should uphold win-win cooperation and strengthen pragmatic cooperation in combating transnational crimes, carrying out judicial assistance, and improving the quality and efficiency of legal services in a bid to serve the healthy economic and social development of BRICS countries.
Also at the meeting, which was hosted by Russia's MOJ, participants discussed deepening pragmatic cooperation in areas of law and judicial administration.
